New York State Agency ‘Adopts’ Columbia [July 21, 2008] By Alex Philippidis The action by the board of the Empire State Development Corp. sets the stage for a future public hearing on the general project plan, which would allow Columbia University to undertake its $6.3 billion mixed-use project into a 17-acre section in West Harlem, located near the school’s main campus. Columbia hopes the project will bring nearly 2.6 million square feet of new research lab space.
